Ethyl ether

Ethyl ether is a colorless liquid with an anesthetic odor having less density than water and slightly soluble in water and vapors are heavier than air. It is used to start engines in cold climates, used in the combination with petroleum distillates in gasoline and diesel engines. It is used in the production of coatings, perfumes, cosmetics and rubber , and also used as extraction solvent to extract fats, waxes, oils, resins, dyes, and alkaloids, Grignard reactions, used to oxidize secondary alcohols into ketones, and in the preparation of copolymers.
