3-Methyl-1-butanol

3-Methyl-1-butanol is an organic clear, colourless alcohol used in phenol chloroform nucleic acid extraction and purification protocols to reduce foaming and inhibit RNase activity, used in industrial products like fillers, putties, lubricants and greases, modeling clay, finger paints, pharmaceuticals, photo-chemicals, polymers, washing and cleaning products. It is also used tp remove ethidium bromide from DNA purified, and also as a starting material in the alcohol functionality group.
