Solriamfetol is a wakefulness-promoting medication used to treat excessive daytime sleepiness associated with narcolepsy and obstructive sleep apnea. It acts as a dopamine and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor, increasing alertness and reducing sleepiness. Originally discovered by SK Biopharmaceuticals, Solriamfetol was developed as a novel therapy for sleep–wake disorders and demonstrated significant efficacy in clinical trials. It received approval in the United States in 2019 and has since become an important treatment option for improving wakefulness and daytime functioning in affected patients.
