Aceclofenac is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used for its analgesic, anti-inflammatory, and antipyretic effects, mainly in conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, and ankylosing spondylitis. It acts by inhibiting cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes, reducing prostaglandin synthesis and thereby relieving pain and inflammation. Developed in the late 1980s–early 1990s as a derivative of diclofenac to improve gastrointestinal tolerability, aceclofenac gained clinical acceptance after studies confirmed its efficacy and safety. It has since become a widely prescribed NSAID for the long-term management of inflammatory and painful conditions.
