Fibromyalgia is a long-term disease or chronic health condition characterised by pain and discomfort throughout the body. It produces musculoskeletal pain and exhaustion, which are followed by sleep, memory, and mood changes. Fibromyalgia exacerbates painful sensations by altering how the brain and spinal cord process pain and nonpain information. Fibromyalgia most commonly affects women and is caused by tension, headaches, irritable bowel syndrome, anxiety, depression, and temporomandibular joint issues.
